Ranik looks about the village. It seemed kind of small, but he wasn't going to stay there for long anyway. the only reason I stopped here is for food, he thought to himself, so I should better find some to buy. If I don't, I won't last very long. All I have is some slices of bread that has gone bad and some overipe bananas He looked at his money. He only had 200 silvers, and he wasn't quite sure how much food that would buy him. He set off to look for someone that would sell him some.

After a while it became clear to Ranik noone was going to sell him food. maybe if the walk isn't that long, I can make it anyway, he thought, And if i get low on food I can just find something to hunt. He once again set off on the road to Queri.

Ranik turned around. "Yes?" he said to the person calling him.

It was a Linehan man, aged, with wrinkles creasing his greenish skin. His hair, once brown, now was mostly gray. "Are you a traveler?" he asked in his husky voice, eying Ranik almost hungrily. "You going to Queri, maybe?"

Ranik looked at the man. there was something Ranik found suspicous about him. "Yes," Ranik said, "I am". he hoped he hadn't made a mistake by telling this stranger that.

The man nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "Ehh," he said. "You want to get there three times faster?"

"Well, I've got a horse here who will trot all the way there and not stop once." THe man smiled, crookedly. "I have the cart already hitched. Care to get on?"
He pointed to a small wooden cart, hitched to a very conformationally incorrect but sparky looking little horse.

Ranik stared at the cart. It seemed to good to be true. Not that it was all THAT good, it is just that when you are traveling, you don't normally meet strangers who just go and offer you cart rides. "So, how much money is this going to cost me?" Ranik said to the man.

"50 silvers," the man answered casually, climbing into the cart and taking up the horse's reins. "Ready to go?"
