NPCs (non-playable characters) and other factors
- No swearing. A "shit" or "bitch" here or there is okay, but no f-words or c-words.
- No sexual stuff. Innuendo is alright, but keep it fairly subtle. If you think two characters MUST get that intimate, and you feel that it MUST happen within a thread, do a "fade out", and resume after the....um... stuff ended. And nothing... indecent (tearing off clothes, etc.). Please.
- In general, please try to keep it at a PG/PG-13 rating, please and thanks.
General Gameplay
- Out of character talking or chatting is prohibited. I'm trying to create an environment where you associate the post with the CHARACTER, not the person posting it. If I made any sense.
- You must create an account for every RP character you have, using their name as the username. I do this for two reasons. One is what I mentioned above. Two, is that I don't want people having five characters and leaving three in the dust. Having to switch accounts for every character should discourage that.
- You (or your character) cannot be in two places at the same time. Finish one thread before starting another with that same character. Responses to other threads are tricky. I'm pretty leniant with that, since it's so hard to judge.
- World affairs will always be handled by ME. You cannot do anything like announce that the war is over - or singlehandedly stop it, unless I (as High Aranian Farin) acknowledge that you have -, give away Vore's "secret", etc. Though I didn't say you can't do anything like attempt to assassinate the High Aranian, or attempt to singlehandedly stop the war, or anything of that sort...
- You must be either a human or lineha. If you wish to be a new race, please PM or e-mail me (preferrably PM) and ask me first. Thanks.
- Please use proper grammar and spelling. I mean, I won't be too strict, but seriously. You know when you're supposed to capitalize an "I" or that it's spelled "you're", not "ur".
- Time is tricky, since people will post at different rates. In general, take it as it comes. But, I mean, a kid won't have his first birthday one day and his second two days later.
- This probably doesn't work too well with the fairly nonexistant time system, or with the world itself, but any holidays that happen in real life happen in the game, on the same day. It doesn't make much sense (at all), but hey, it's just for fun and for simplicity's sake. Maybe someday I'll come up with a list of holidays.
Families
- Marriages are posted in the "streets" board of a city, but in the RP take place in some sort of structure (unless you want the characters to get married in the streets. Hey, they're your characters.).
- We all know where babies come from. You don't need to tell us about it.
- At the very least, a character is pregnant for ten real-life days. That's the only time structure I ask for. *
- The kid can be played by one of the parents, or you can post in the "Characters Needed" board to ask someone to play him/her.
Deaths
- Death. It happens. Don't keep pushing it away. Example:
Kiren: He stabbed Yula, in the heart, once, as she was lying on the ground clutching her leg.
Yula: Yula jerked the knife out of her, somehow still living.
Dude. You don't get stabbed in the heart and live. It just doesn't happen. - On the other hand, you cannot force another player to die without giving them a chance. Another version of Yula's murder:
Kiren: Kiren knocked her to the ground, crushing her leg and clearly breaking it. He stabbed her three times, killing her.
Okay. Kiren here just did a big no-no. He should have made that about four posts - one for the knock to the ground, one for each stabbing. Technically, Yula should have the precedent in deciding if her leg is broken or not. However, if she's unrealistic about it, I'll intervene. - People don't come back from the dead. Once I declare a character dead, they'll go to the "Dead List" on this board, and there they will stay.
NPCs (non-playable characters) and other factors
- Sunset RP definition of NPC: a character that isn't really a character. ex. the owner of the factory, the waitress at the Handful of Feathers, etc. Or animals not owned by a character. Rats and such.
- Sunset RP definition of "factor": Stuff that happens; whether it be weather, or a bar fight (involving more people than the characters there at the time), or someting like that.
- Some of these are controlled by you, others by me. I generally control people that run places existing since the beginning of the game, and I control all factors. So I control people like the waitress at the Handful of Feathers. You, however, can have NPCs of your own, such as your characters best friend, mom, etc. BUT these characters cannot be too common or evident; in that case you'd have to make an account for them and play full-time as them. *
